President Paula A. Johnson
When President Paula A. Johnson came to Wellesley’s as its 14th president and first African American president, her inauguration in September 2016 was like a sold-out rock concert for smart girls and women.
A native of Brooklyn, NY, she earned her M.D. and M.P.H. degrees from Harvard and is a nationally recognized, respected, and passionate leader in medicine. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to women’s health and public health. President Johnson remains deeply committed to women and to sustainably improving their lives. She brings to Wellesley a unique vision for women’s excellence and well-being, and the community has responded to her with unprecedented enthusiasm.
